Capacity Note

Flash memory manufacturers calculate capacity using decimal arithmetic (1GB = 1,000MB), while operating systems use binary arithmetic (1GB = 1,024MB). As a result, the displayed capacity on your device will be slightly lower than the nominal capacity. Additionally, a small portion of storage is reserved for Bad Block Management software to ensure stable, long-term SSD performance. Actual usable capacity ≈ nominal capacity × 0.93.

Speed Note

Advertised speeds are for reference only. Actual performance may vary depending on your host device's interface, hardware specifications, operating system, and the benchmark software used. For maximum speeds, use the included C-to-C cable with a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 compatible port. Using the C-to-A adapter will reduce speeds to up to 10Gbps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the CUSU Portable External SSD compatible with my smartphone?

A: Yes! The CUSU Nexdrive P60 and K8 SSDs use a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C interface and are compatible with Android smartphones and tablets that support USB OTG (On-The-Go) via USB-C. For iPhones or older devices, please verify your device's USB-C or adapter compatibility before purchasing.

Q: What is the real usable storage capacity of the 1TB model?

A: Because flash memory is measured in decimal gigabytes (1GB = 1,000MB) while your OS measures in binary gigabytes (1GB = 1,024MB), a 1TB drive will show approximately 931GB on your system. A further small portion is reserved for Bad Block Management software, so the effective usable capacity is approximately 930GB × 0.93 ≈ ~930GB. This is standard across all SSD brands.

Q: Does using the C-to-A adapter reduce transfer speeds?

A: Yes. The C-to-C cable supports up to 20Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen2x2), while the included C-to-A adapter is limited to up to 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen2x1). For the fastest possible transfers, connect the SSD directly via the C-to-C cable to a compatible USB 3.2 Gen2x2 port.

Q: What warranty does the CUSU External SSD come with?

A: Both the Nexdrive P60 and K8 models come with a 5-year warranty, giving you long-term confidence in your purchase.
