BL5520 5520 Outer Rotor Brushless DC Motor – 24V, High Torque, PWM Speed Control

The BL5520 Outer Rotor Brushless DC Motor delivers smooth, high-torque performance at 24V DC, making it an excellent choice for percussive massage guns, DIY robotics, power tools, and home appliance projects. With built-in PWM speed regulation support, you can precisely control rotational speed from 0%–90% duty cycle at approximately 3,000 Hz — all without external driver complexity. The integrated driver board simplifies wiring and gets your project running fast.

Made in Mainland China.

DC 24V 0.21 A 4,070 RPM

Wiring Guide

  • Red wire: Positive pole (+)
  • Black wire: GND / common terminal (power supply negative + PWM negative)
  • Blue wire: PWM signal input (connect to negative pole for full/maximum speed)
  • Yellow wire: Direction line — connect to black (GND) for clockwise (CW) rotation; reverse to change direction
  • Green wire: FG signal line (leave suspended / unconnected)

Quick-Start Wiring

Simple operation (no speed control needed): Connect Red → positive pole; Black + Blue → negative pole. The motor will start immediately at full speed.

PWM speed control: Connect Red → positive pole; Black → negative pole; Blue → PWM signal. Adjust the PWM frequency to ~3,000 Hz and set the duty cycle between 0%–90% to regulate speed.

⚠ Important: Do NOT reverse the polarity. Red wire must go to positive and black wire to negative. Reversing polarity will permanently damage the built-in driver board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the BL5520 brushless motor be used with a standard PWM controller?

A: Yes. The BL5520 brushless DC motor includes an integrated driver board and supports PWM speed regulation directly. Simply connect the blue wire to your PWM signal output, set the frequency to approximately 3,000 Hz, and adjust the duty cycle between 0% and 90% to achieve precise speed control.

Q: What happens if I accidentally reverse the polarity on the BL5520 motor?

A: Reversing polarity (connecting red to negative and black to positive) will permanently damage the onboard driver board. Always double-check wiring before powering on — red to positive, black to negative.

Q: Is the BL5520 motor suitable for percussive massage gun builds?

A: Yes, the BL5520 outer rotor brushless motor is commonly used in percussive massage gun DIY builds and repairs. Its high-torque output at 24V DC and compact 54.5 × 26.8 mm form factor make it well-suited for that application.

Q: Can this motor run at voltages lower than 24V?

A: Yes. The motor operates across a range of voltages. At DC 12V it runs at approximately 2,040 RPM, at DC 18V at ~3,050 RPM, and at its rated DC 24V at ~4,070 RPM (all no-load figures). Running at lower voltages reduces speed and torque output accordingly.
